Brachytherapy means a sealed source radiotherapy ,that is,the radioactive source is placed inside or next to the area requiring treatment.It is used to treat cancer of the prostate, cancer of the head and neck , breast and esophagus.
HDR brachytherapy is a common brachytherapy method where a high dose rate source is driven along the catheters on the end of a wire by a machine while patient is isolated in a room.This has lower staff exposure and treatment time is quicker.
